Activating Space

As a sculptor, I am interested in the concept of activating space, building on the relationship between physicality and the void.  I have often incorporated architectural influences into my sculptures because of the strong relationship between my research of activating space and the architectural concerns of “lived spaces.”  My current work consists of hybrid stainless steel and vinyl forms exploring issues of site, accessible space, and materiality.   Through the use of transparent and opaque materials, I have been able to research the issues of public and private space by allowing visual, and sometimes physical, access into my sculpture.
